ABOUT US

Convent of Mercy Academy “Alpha” Association Inc., (Florida Chapter), launched in October 1995. The CMAAA Florida Chapter collaborated to augment the learning environment to enable the students’ achievements to flourish at the Academy, and to provide steadfast sisterhood for all alumnae who have been moulded by the “Alpha DNA”. We concentrate on providing support through the various resources we offer. Directors meet regularly to exchange ideas, plan projects and events to further our cause.

WHO WE ARE

As alumnae of Convent of Mercy Academy (CMA), we have remained faithful to our early ideals and teachings of helping to provide where “Aspirations are strived for and Wisdom imparted”, an intention initiated over 120 years ago. We are located in South Florida, and is governed and maintained by an Executive Board that welcomes all past students to join, in camaraderie, with a unified goal of giving back to Convent of Mercy Alpha.

OUR MISSION

At CMAAA Florida Chapter, we operate in service to our younger ‘sisters’, who are current students at the Academy, through various means including counseling and support. Through scholarships, grants and events, we strive for the development and success of the students as they advance expectantly into the future.

Convent of Mercy Academy 'ALPHA'

26 South Camp Road, Kingston 4, Jamaica

email: kmcmorris@cmaalpha.com

The 143 year old Alpha Campus, the home of six educational institutions - namely, Alpha Infant, Alpha Primary, Jessie Ripoll Primary, Alpha School of Music and Alpha Vocational Training Centre (formerly the Alpha Boys' Home) and the Convent of Mercy 'Alpha' Academy - with a population of over 4000 students, now boasts of expanding its entrances, driveway and improving students' safety and security.

In the recent years, with the significant increase in vehicular traffic within the campus, and the large number of student population that traverse the narrow driveway has posed all sorts of safety and security issues. In addition to the challenges faced by pedestrian traffic, moving vehicles in and out of the property onto the South Camp Road during peak hours is enormous.

The proposed expansion of the Alpha Academy driveway and beautification of its entrance is welcomed as an appropriate solution for the challenges faced on a daily basis by students, teachers, and parents. The architectural design while solving these very important student safety issues is also featuring the historic nature of the institutions and the Campus.
